Squirc-tacular inspiration: Yayoi Kusama

Thanks to sponsors Sticky Business and Featherston’s Own Trust, we invite you to participate in making some squircular artwork inspired by Yayoi Kusama:
a Japanese avant-garde artist now in her 90’s, in her later career she has had a ‘dots obsession’. While she also creates dot paintings on canvas and board, one of her most well-loved installation works features a white room gradually becoming ‘obliterated’ by stickers given out to gallery visitors, who become participating artists in the process.
For some reason, we’ve been thinking a lot about squares and circles.. so come along and join in making some squarecircle sticker based artwork which will then be publicly exhibited in Feathy… Or you can just come along for some good music and good times..

( :They are an NZ owned family business who print stickers and labels to order: they didn’t hesitate to support us so please support them if you need anything sticky!)

In this photo taken Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2012, Japanese avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama speaks during an interview at her studio, filled with wall-sized paintings throbbing with her repetitive dots, in Tokyo. Kusama's signature splash of dots has now arrived in the realm of fashion in a new collection from French luxury brand Louis Vuitton - bags, sunglasses, shoes and coats. The latest Kusama collection is showcased at its boutiques around the world, including New York, Paris, Tokyo and Singapore, sometimes with replica dolls of Kusama. (AP Photo/Itsuo Inouye)

The Warehouse Masterton, the kids loved the bubbles, games, chalk the walk and lolly scrambles, thank you!
Featherston’s Own Trust helped out with that too, and the sausage sizzle, which turned into a free/ koha sizz; thanks to the generous spirit of Gina from Feathy School who instead of accepting the proceeds, asked us to give it back to the community so the kids ate free.
Huge shoutout to Jo and Mike, who dressed up, entertained the kids, and sizzled all night on the BBQ- and they skipped a night at work at their Welsh Dragon Bar to do this and give back to the community.
